Woodberry Poetry Room manuscript collection, 1896-1967.

This collection of poems and letters was assembled by the Curator of the Woodberry Poetry Room in Lamont Library at Harvard. It contains annotated drafts of poems by various poets, mostly American; some correspondence between the poets and the Poetry Room concerning tape recordings of the poets reading from their works; a few photographs; and clippings.

The Woodberry Poetry Room at Harvard was established in honor of Professor George Edward Woodberry. It was opened in 1931 in Widener Library and was moved in 1949 to Lamont Library. From the beginning, poetry readings, funded by the Morris Gray Fund, were given in the Woodberry Poetry Room.
